The Babies!

Greetings to all!

Well I have to say this week has been one heck of a week!  We now have a family of five!  Tyler Alan and Alyson Kate were born on Wednesday the 28th.  Alyson was born first at 7:52 pm. She was 5.3 pounds.  It took four minutes of pushing and she was out.  Tyler was a little more stubborn and didn’t come out until 8:15!  He was the bigger of the two coming in at 6.5 pounds.  Both of them of course are beautiful children, just like their brother!

Alyson did pretty well from the beginning.  However, we did run through some issues with her blood sugar.  She was monitored very closely and now needs to be fed about every 2 hours just to make sure she maintains good levels.  I sure hope Amy has the strength.

Tyler has had trouble as well but with breathing and digesting food. He is now breathing on his own, respiratory rate seems to be going down, and he is beginning to digest food.  Aunt Kelli, Grandpa Kearly, and I visited him tonight for a bit and he seemed to be doing well. He looked great, he was responsive and had his eyes open almost the whole time we were there. I was able to care for him, take his temperature and change his diaper.   As events change I will try to update this site.

Well as the story goes…

Amy had been having quite a bit of trouble carrying the children.  She had been having blood pressure issues along with other issues that were alarming. She was going to the doctor two to three times a week.  Her  legs and feet swelled up so much (as Brandt put it) they looked like cabbage patch kids feet.  It was definitely hard for her to get around.  She would have alarming things happen, we would worry, she would get looked at, everything was okay. It seemed to be a pretty common occurrence.  So we kept on thinking she would make it to the induction date.  She was put on bed rest on the 26th, I even had to rock out some of goulash I learned from my pa! Everything seemed fine.

Wednesday Amy was once again having trouble. She was dizzy and seeing spots.  When she finally got through to the doctor they finally looked at her blood work and told her to come in. The babies needed to come out!  Of course this had to be the day, the one day a week I go to Holland to help out at the Water Plant.  Let me tell you, I blew the carbon out of that ole Windstar.  I’m actually amazed the Ford didn’t fall a part when I gave her a little gas!

We finally got to the hospital, Amy was checked in about 4:30.  Things happened very quickly! Amy did have a few random contractions during the day but now they were coming much more frequently without any help of medicine.  It was quite strange how that worked.  One person after another ran through the room like an assembly line.  All of a sudden she was at 9 centimeters, then it was time to go.  Like that…

Here is Amy showing off her big belly!

Amy delivered in the operating room in case we ran into trouble. She had a team of 8 people including the doctor.  It was quite the sight.  Unfortunately I did not get a picture of all the blue.

I brought Jayden up to the hospital to see mom and the baby.  He was very gentle with his new baby sister.  He even posed for the picture and said “CHHHEEEEESE”

Well I hope I did well. Thanks again to my brother Mike for putting this together for me.  Hopefully our friends and family enjoy this.

Hi Scott!

This is terrific! The babies look adorable and we can’t wait to meet them next weekend! Emily identified each of your children by body part - if you know what I mean! She was most excited - as were we to see Jayden (looking so big!) next to his sister! How exciting! We’ll talk to you soon! We know how busy it must be taking care of a new one at home as well as one at the hospital. Take Care - hugs and kisses to all the kids!

What beautiful babies! I can only imagine what fun you will all have. Jayden will be entertained with the crying, feeding and of course changing diapers. Amy looks great and I’m glad she’s feeling better. I will be anxious to see lots of pictures and of course, I can’t wait for the real deal! With two babies and Jayden, there won’t be very many empty arms.
Love,
Aunt Ann

Congratulations Amy and Scott!! Your babies are just beautiful! How fast a family grows. The first year won’t be that long when you will look back on it. Enjoy each waking night, enjoy the precious first smiles, enjoy the bonding with each of the babies. Time goes by too fast! As a mother to another mother, there is nothing more precious than your babies. A mom will do anything for her children!
